-How - Kaleb asked, confused.
-Yoor leng-widge... I stud-deed it with the... sages -her speech denoted a bit of nervousness-. But... I can't... preck-tees... it? -she finished.
Kaleb gave a small laugh when he heard her. The huachi's eyes widened in surprise.
-Achi! I say something bad? -she said worriedly.
-No, no, you speak it very well -Kaleb said-. I think you speak it better then me - he said and laughed a little again.
The huachi let out a laugh that made him flinch.
-I geet the joke -she said-. It's funnee be-cose it's not troo - she continued with a smile-. I had never seen a hyooman.
The huachi seemed fascinated with the boy. She examined him with her eyes in a way that she couldn't hide her astonishment. She kept smiling with her mouth slightly open as she watched the boy. Even seeing his hair still wet, she took her own membrane with her hand and stroked it, as if she were imagining what human hair would feel like while comparing it to her huachi equivalent.
-Yoo don't look as scaree as the books said -she said as she looked curiously at the boy-. Yoor skin seems eezy to peerse and cut, I could even do it now -she laughed again.
Kaleb looked at her concerned.
The huachi, seeing that he was not laughing, spoke:
-That's a jooke too -she said, smiling-. It's not troo eethoor -she added a little worried.
-Oh -Kaleb exclaimed and then laughed.
The huachi, seeing him laugh, smiled and accompanied him with a small laugh. They both looked at each other for a moment in silence.
One of the small fins of the huachi, on the side of her head, moved gracefully, and suddenly she seemed to get nervous.
-I shoodn't be here -the huachi turned and began to swim away from the boy.
-Wait! -said Kaleb.
To his surprise, the huachi stopped and slowly turned to look at him.
-Can you help me? -Kaleb said.
-I can't stay -answered the huachi as she continued on her way, took the seaweed tunic and opened the cell gate.
-My name is Kaleb -sid the boy.
The huachi turned to look back. She seemed doubtful, for she took a moment in silence as if debating if she would really answer or not until, finally, she spoke.
-I am Nango -she said. Then she closed the cell and quickly swam away from there. Leaving the boy alone, again.
Kaleb thought about that curious huachi for a long time. He wondered why she came to visit him and, above all, why she was so kind. The other huachis in the throne room seemed to hate him or were terrified of him.
Suddenly, he was interrupted by the sound of the door opening again and heard several footsteps echoing off the dungeon walls. Within a few seconds he could see three of the old men, accompanied by two guards, opening the cell door. The old men entered and the guards closed the gate again, then stood there, spears in hand.
The Elders slowly swam towards Kaleb and positioned themselves in front of him, quite a distance away, three or four meters perhaps. Seeing how the elders kept their distance away from him, as if he could attack them even while chained, made him think that the elders were probably three times the size of Nango, and she still got too close. She really didn't need to be afraid of him.
One of the old men, who had the characteristic of having four long mustaches, spoke.
-How do yoo know about the book? -his voice was hoarse and slow.
-As I told you, I was imprisoned here by an evil entity that I was investigating in the Real World -Kaleb said firmly.
-How can we bee-leeve yoo? -he said-. Yoo might be sent by Ca'dor Scarlet.
-What? -said Kaleb, confused.
-Yoo cood be a pi-rhett -said another of the wise men.
-Pirate? What? I'm not a pirate, I didn't even know there were pirates here -Kaleb replied.
-If yoo are not a pi-rhett. How do yoo know the locay-shoon of the Huachi Kingdom? -said the third sage, annoyed.
-I didn't know it, I got here by accident when going through a labyrinth -he said
The three sages let out a surprised gasp that made even the guards turn to check that everything was alright. Again the wise men talked to each other, this time taking a little time before turning to look at the boy.
-Yoo, yoor shoor yoo saw a lah-boor-eenth? -asked one of them.
-Yes, I saw it and got through with help -he said.
-Yoor lying! -shouted another.
-No, I swear. Going through it I was transported by a kind of whirlpool that dragged me here -Kaleb said, almost shouting it.
The huachi's eyes widened and they spoke to each other again. This time they seemed to argue with each other. After the three of them seemed to calm down and agree, they turned to the boy.
-Yoo min-chooned help to get yoo throo the lah-boor-eenth. Who helped yoo to coor-russ? -asked the huachi. This particular question made the other two Huachi Elders narrow their eyes, as if waiting impatiently for the answer.
Kaleb turned to look at you quickly. He wanted to ask for your help and wanted to know if he should reveal to them that you are his guide on this path.
But the huachis noticed how he turned to look at you and it seems that this was a sufficient answer. Well, they couldn't contain their little eyes from opening in surprise.
The three old men looked at each other and spoke frantically. Kaleb couldn't understand what they were saying, but he did detect a word they were repeating over and over again.
-Vo' Cas'cielt. Vo' Cas'cielt -they repeated over and over again.
Then the Elders turned back to Kaleb. The one with the four mustaches stared at the boy and with a serious and firm voice, asked him:
-Yoo have the guiding voice in heaven -he said.
Kaleb looked at you again.
