Kaleb did not take his eyes off the boat. It looked old, like the ones you see in museums, and it seemed to be made entirely of wood. The peculiar thing about this ship was that each plank that formed it was red, while some ornaments and ropes tied to the great masts had another coloration. They appeared to be charred, being either black and smoky, or golden.

Kaleb saw the huge billowing red sails. He looked up the center mast, following an object climbing up it. When it reached the top and began to billow, he could see the Jolly Roger, the pirate skull that made it clear who they had run into. If it still was not clear, the pirate flag suddenly went up in flames and with it, several torches placed along the length of the tremendous ship.

Laughter and voices began to be heard from the ship. It was the crew members. Kaleb caught a glimpse of a few peeking out of the deck, carrying huge spears, swords, and harpoons, which they began to hurl at the huachi.

-Ah'g bo! -Tabet yelled as he saw the spears plunge into the water very close to them. The navigator moved suddenly and the vehicle began to dive back into the water.

The pirates seemed to dislike this as they began to shout angrily.

The ship turned, chasing the huachi vehicle. Kaleb turned back to find the stern of the ship in the distance, its figurehead sculpted in the shape of an immense dragon.

From the mouth of this menacing ornament protruded what looked like a huge harpoon.

The navigator tried to speed up, when the harpoon, like the flag, caught on fire.

Tabet noticed that Kaleb was sitting right in the trajectory of the harpoon, so with a quick movement, before the vehicle was fully submerged, he ran up and tackled him.

Together they fell into the water. Kaleb watched as the harpoon the ship launched tore through the vehicle, causing it to explode.

Tabet swam with Kaleb still in his arms but they were suddenly stopped by something on the surface.

Kaleb felt a bunch of ropes tighten around the both of them and start to pull them up. Both were dragged to the surface without being able to move a muscle, the ropes were so tight that they both began to feel like it was cutting into their skin.

By the time the ropes were released, they both fell on the deck of that ship, crashing against the red wood. Tabet scrambled to his feet and leapt in front of Kaleb as dozens of pirates approached, weapons drawn. There was no doubt Tabet was the chosen champion, because in a few strokes he managed to dodge the attacks of two pirates and knock them down and then take one of the harpoons they carried and use it to knock down the others. However, there were too many of them and they began to surround them. Tabet pushed Kaleb behind him to protect him, while using the spear to block attacks and knock down enemies.

The huachi warrior snarled with rage in his eyes. This seemed to intimidate the pirates a bit and taking advantage of this Tabet took Kaleb by the arm and ran, ready to throw himself overboard, when a blaze of fire reached him and knocked him down with a cry of pain.

Kaleb also fell to the ground, listening to Tabet's groans and the pirate's laughter.

When he got up, he saw the huachi warrior with his left side badly injured from a burn. Then he heard something. It was the classic crackle of fire but it wasn't coming from the burning flag or those torches on the sides. It was coming from behind.
