Kaleb nodded and selected the key to the 13th floor from the copier menu.
A little "beep!" came out of the copier and it's internal mechanisms began to make noise. It sounded like those old printers when they were about to print. Suddenly a small light began to blink on top of the machine and a small periscope extended from the corner of the lid. The periscope began to rotate several times, then Kaleb came into focus. It then emitted what appeared to be a gridlike curtain of brilliant blue, accompanied by a very gentle cybernetic buzz. The light engulfed him from head to toe. Kaleb took a step back and then to the side trying to get away, but the periscope followed him as if connected to him by that light.
When it finished "scanning", the periscope stowed away again, making a funny sound. Then the copier started making printing sounds, "Brrt-t-t-t-brrr... PING!". It stopped, and the lid burst open, letting out smoke. Kaleb reached over and waves his hand, dispelling some of the smoke, revealing an exact copy of the key to the 13th floor.
Kaleb took it.
-Yes! -he exclaimed-. It's just what we need - he said happily.
Suddenly a hand took his arm in a strong grip, which made the boy drop the key.
Kaleb hit the arm with his other hand and managed to get away, taking a few steps back, picking up the key from the floor and putting it in his pocket.
An exact copy of Kaleb descended from the copier smoke and landed on the ground. He was identical to the boy, the only difference from him is that this copy had completely white eyes.
Kaleb ran for the main entrance, but his copy made a quick sprint and tackled him. They both struggled on the ground. Kaleb tried to defend himself remembering the little combat training he had received, but the copy of him tried exactly the same. After the two of them bumped into each other a few times, they pulled apart, the copy standing up to block the escape of it's original.
Kaleb was panting as he sat up and raised his fists.
-He knows my moves, I don't think I can beat myself, no... I don't know what to do -he said.
The boy clearly needed an advantage over his copy. That's when you both remember Kaleb's backpack.
