The next morning La Flama Escarlata reached its destination. Kaleb was brought on deck. Captain Fuego was waiting for him.
-Ah, our dearest guide and his voice in heaven, how good that you are with us. You arrived just in time, we are about to enter the area of the Ribs.
The ship entered an area full of mist. Little by little it became more difficult to see. Kaleb leaned off of the deck a bit and could see the water turning black.
-Clear the way and go forward, damn cockroaches -Captain Fuego instructed.
A giant flame shot out of the carved dragon that adorned the figurehead, clearing the mist a bit, revealing a cave of black stone. La Flama followed the current and entered the dark cavity of rocks.
As they went in, the light faded more and more, so Fuego gave a signal and all the torches around the ship went up powerfully, illuminating everything.
Kaleb couldn't stop watching you, he was worried about the situation, the place and the destination.
Fuego, for his part, saw the boy, who was looking for you with his eyes. He turned to where the boy was looking in an attempt to see you too, but without any success. It was frustrating for him, if he could see you and communicate with you himself, he could stop depending on the boy and he would have gotten rid of him long ago.
The road seemed like an endless tunnel of charred stone and water so black that it reflected the torches and the ship, almost like a mirror.
Suddenly the captain grabbed onto a molding on the poop deck and his crew seemed to be preparing for something to come. Kaleb looked at you worriedly wondering if he should be alert too.
Suddenly the ship seemed to slide down with the current and from there the strong and fast waters became a kind of underground roller coaster, pressing through countless tunnels and small waterfalls. Kaleb, feeling the jiggle and accelerated speed of the ship, grabbed a molding as well and didn't let go.
Despite the strong currents, the navigator seemed calm behind the helm. Kaleb didn't understand how, since he was sure they were going to crash at any moment. It was either that or maybe the boy's subconscious wishing that the ship would have an accident so that Fuego and his gang of assassins couldn't get out of here. He wished that a catastrophe would save him from helping the wretches who took Tabet's life in front of his eyes.
Finally, after an intense and fast trip inside the tunnels, the ship reached a quieter area. Then Kaleb could make out where they were. They were in the same sewers through which he reached the Huachi Kingdom for the first time. He immediately recognized these walls, the huge metal tubes and the different gigantic holes through which the water gushed out.
-It's your turn -Captain Fuego said, grabbing Kaleb's arm and tossing him to the navigator's side-. Ask your voice from heaven to give us a direction.
Kaleb looked at Fuego.
-Or do you want us to turn around, straight to the huachis? -Fuego threatened him.
Kaleb looked at you, resigned to leading the heartless pirates. Suddnely, as if things weren't tense enough, the place began to rumble. The water began to rush again and screams began to sound in the distance.
-They know we're here! -the captian yelled, walking right up to Kaleb and shaking him again-. Give us a course now, you damn worm.
